Background:
Yachts By Owner Inc. was founded because of the information age. The buyers are more informed than ever, and the role of the broker is getting less because of it. While the buyers are doing more work themselves, and the brokers role is less, then why hasn't the commission changed? That's where we fit in. Our revolutionary Flex PlanŠ eliminates the need for a broker/salesman in the sales capacity, yet still retains all the professional services a broker provides. All while saving as much as 7% of your asking price!
What we are:
Yachts By Owner Inc. is a licensed, bonded and insured yacht brokerage company in the state of Maryland. We handle every step of the boat sale legally and professionally. We only accept central listings in exchange for providing our customers with consistent and intense advertising in both print media and on the web.
What we are not:
Yachts By Owner Inc. is not a discount yacht brokerage company. Our MLS PlanŠ costs boat sellers the industry average 10% Commission. If a broker has offered you a lesser commission he/she is not offering your boat in a true MLS fashion as you have probably been led to believe. Why would another broker want to show your boat for a lesser commission when he/she could show an identical boat down the street for a full industry standard 10% commission?
The 3% commission of our Flex Plan is not a "discount" commission. It is a "reduced" commission that is accomplished through seller participation. The seller shows their own boat which ultimately costs us less than if we had to employ salespeople to show the boat. The boat is not offered in an MLS capacity which means other brokers will not present it to their buyers. Any negative effects of this are offset by the shear volume of advertising we invest in for each of our listings. The ease and efficiency of the internet is making it more common for buyers to do their own boat searches instead of contacting a single brokerage company to find a boat. Our print and internet advertising is guaranteed to put each of our listings in front of the buyers looking for them.
